The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) wishes to inform the public that the Authority and its partners are facilitating the clearance of All Goods through the sea ports of Ghana during the lockdown and NOT just what is being speculated as essential items.
This is in pursuant to the directive by the President of the Republic on Saturday, 21« March, 2020 that all cargoes can move in and out of the country.
Thus, Importers, cargo owners, freight forwarders and all Port users who have goods to clear from Ghana’s Ports, are entreated to undergo needed processes and clear their goods, until and unless there is any executive correspondence to the contrary.
However, in adherence to the social distancing rule, every individual who is eligible to transact business at the Port will be given a special permit by GPHA. Customs also issues special passes to Freight Forwarders and Importers.
GPHA would like to take this opportunity to advice the importers to stay at home and allow their Clearing and Forwarding Agents to come and take delivery of cargo.
GPHA wishes to assure the public that adequate measures have been put in place to observe the necessary physical distancing and hygiene protocols at Ghana’s Ports.
The Authority will also like to remind all Port users including, freight forwarders and their importers to contact GPHA on gamarvie@ghanaports.net and racquah@ghanaports.net to secure the required permit to access the Port.
