{"id":9066,"date":"2022-05-19T18:42:19","date_gmt":"2022-05-19T17:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/?p=9066"},"modified":"2022-05-19T18:42:19","modified_gmt":"2022-05-19T17:42:19","slug":"shippers-educated-on-how-to-register-their-products-under-afcfta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vigorous-feistel.187-124-37-238.plesk.page\/?p=9066","title":{"rendered":"Shippers educated on how to register their products under AfCFTA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the Upper West Regional Shipper Committee have been sensitized on ways in which they can benefit from the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement, AfCFTA, with a focus on how they can successfully register their products under the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting which was held in Wa on 19<sup>th<\/sup> May 2022, became necessary as shippers in Ghana and other countries have intensified efforts to increase the volume of trade among countries on the continent and thereby benefit from the trade agreement.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9068\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/IMG-20220519-WA0025.jpg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/>Despite recurrent challenges including poor road and rail links, political unrest, and excessive border bureaucracy that appears to be hindering the smooth implementation of the Continental agreement, importers and exporters are eager to participate and enjoy the benefits accruing it.<\/p>\n<p>Currently more than 850 products have been given approval for trade under the AfCFTA rules of origin protocols by the African Ministers of Trade. The items include cheese, edible oil, fish, and some machinery.<\/p>\n<p>The Upper West Regional Manager of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Jeremiah took the members present at the meeting through the procedure of registration under AfCFTA, how to harness the benefits that come with it as well as how to access the sub-regional market. It was on the theme; Procedures for registering your products under AfCFTA.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9067\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/IMG-20220519-WA0023.jpg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/>Participants expressed appreciation to the Ghana Shippers Authority for facilitating the meeting as it would be beneficial to their activities going forward<\/p>\n<p>The African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) aims to bring together 1.3 billion people in a $3.4 trillion economic bloc that will be the largest free trade area since the establishment of the World Trade Organization.
