{"id":5655,"date":"2022-03-22T10:11:55","date_gmt":"2022-03-22T10:11:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/?p=5655"},"modified":"2022-03-22T10:11:55","modified_gmt":"2022-03-22T10:11:55","slug":"youre-key-to-afcfta-success-gsa-to-truck-drivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vigorous-feistel.187-124-37-238.plesk.page\/?p=5655","title":{"rendered":"You\u2019re key to AfCFTA success \u2013 GSA to truck drivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana Shippers\u2019 Authority (GSA) has scaled up its sensitization of transit truck drivers in the country as they have been identified as key stakeholders for the successful implementation of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).<\/p>\n<p>At the 2022 GSA Sensitization Workshop for Haulage Truck Drivers, over 200 truck drivers were taken through presentations on road safety issues, haulage of hazardous cargo and ways to expedite transit cargo.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5673\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-03-22-at-8.24.12-AM-1024x768.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/>In her address at the event which came off at the forecourt of the Black Starline House in Tema on 16<sup>th<\/sup> March, 2022, the CEO of the GSA, Benonita Bismarck said: \u201cit is important to emphasize your crucial role in achieving the lofty objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).<\/p>\n<p>The expected increase in trade in goods in the Free Trade Agreement will be mainly carried by trucks; therefore, there will be fresh opportunities for the Haulage Transport Industry, especially to the land-linked countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5676\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-03-22-at-8.24.14-AM-1024x994.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/>She added that as key stakeholders, it will be prudent for the truck drivers to initiate discussions on the existing potential and to strategically position themselves to take maximum advantage.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairperson for the event, Mrs. Esther Gyebi-Donkor, General Manager Marketing and Corporate Affairs used the opportunity to also reiterate the importance for interagency collaboration to make Ghana\u2019s corridors as competitive as its ports have become in the subregion.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5667\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-03-22-at-8.24.10-AM-1-1024x770.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/>\u201cIt is an established fact that Ghana\u2019s Ports are not only competing with itself when it comes to the transit trade, we have equally strong ports in Lome, Abidjan, Cotonou and even far away Dakar to compete with.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, to win more transit trade business, we need to improve on our ways of doing business in the Port and along the corridor.
