{"id":4598,"date":"2020-03-13T15:40:05","date_gmt":"2020-03-13T15:40:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/?p=4598"},"modified":"2020-03-13T15:40:05","modified_gmt":"2020-03-13T15:40:05","slug":"tamale-hosts-sixth-exporters-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vigorous-feistel.187-124-37-238.plesk.page\/?p=4598","title":{"rendered":"Tamale hosts sixth Exporters\u2019 Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The regional capital of the Northern Region, Tamale, on 12<sup>th<\/sup> March, 2020 hosted the sixth in the series of Exporters\u2019 Forums organised by the Ghana Shippers\u2019 Authority (GSA) to build the capacity of exporters across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The forum, which was held under the theme, \u201cOvercoming Trade Barriers to Enhance Exports in the Northern Sector, the Role of Stakeholders\u201d comes after previous ones organised by the GSA for exporters in Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Somanya and Bolgatanga.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4600\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Tamale-Exporters-Forum-2.jpg\">Scores of exporters of shea-nuts, shea butter, mango, yam, agrochemicals, seedlings, leather works and smocks participated in the one-day event.<\/p>\n<p>Officials from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the Ghana Police Service gave a presentation on \u201cExport Procedures for Non-Traditional Exports (NTEs) and other Related Products\u201d and \u201cRoad Governance, Transport and Trade Facilitation\u201d respectively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The exporters were also sensitised on the National Export Strategy&nbsp; and its relevance to their businesses by an official of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA).Representatives from the Ghana Standards Authority, Narcotic Control Board (NACOB), Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) and the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) also took the exporters through their respective roles in the promotion of Ghana\u2019s exports.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4599\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Tamale-Exporters-Forum-1.jpg\">The forum provided an opportunity for the exporters to raise their challenges in the export value chain with the various state agencies while their representatives took turns to provide redress.<\/p>\n<p>In a welcome address, the Chief Executive officer (CEO) of the GSA, Ms. Benonita Bismarck said the nation\u2019s over-reliance on the export of raw materials, lack of value addition to raw materials and the apparent neglect or low levels of export of NTEs are caused by challenges&nbsp; facing exporters which must be addressed by the concerted efforts of all stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>She said the development of the new National Export Strategy which is spearheaded by GEPA is expected to draw viable strategies to fall within the context of the National Industrial Transformation Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>These were said on her behalf by Mr. Emmanuel Kwarteng, the Kumasi Branch Manager of the GSA<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The regional capital of the Northern Region, Tamale, on 12th March, 2020 hosted the sixth in the series of Exporters\u2019 Forums organised by the Ghana Shippers\u2019 Authority (GSA) to build<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":4600,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[24],"tags":[820,910,1356,1622,1659,1666,1673,1762,2095],"class_list":["post-4598","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-ghana-export-promotion-authority-gepa","tag-ghana-standards-authority","tag-ministry-of-trade-and-industry-moti","tag-ms-benonita-bismarck","tag-narcotic-control-board-nacob","tag-national-board-for-small-scale-industries-nbssi","tag-national-export-strategy","tag-overcoming-trade-barriers-to-enhance-exports-in-the-northern-sector","tag-the-role-of-stakeholders"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.9 -
