{"id":4468,"date":"2020-02-04T17:39:11","date_gmt":"2020-02-04T17:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/?p=4468"},"modified":"2020-02-04T17:39:11","modified_gmt":"2020-02-04T17:39:11","slug":"gsa-pledges-to-address-shipment-concerns-of-traders-in-makola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vigorous-feistel.187-124-37-238.plesk.page\/?p=4468","title":{"rendered":"GSA pledges to address shipment concerns of traders in Makola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana Shippers\u2019 Authority (GSA) has expressed its readiness to address shipment concerns of traders in Makola to enable them run their businesses effectively without hindrances in the ports.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;The assurance was given by the Head of Freight and Logistics of the GSA, Mr. Fred Asiedu-Dartey on 4<sup>th<\/sup> February, 2020 at the inauguration of the Tenants of Makola Shopping Mall Association (TOMSMA).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4470 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Makola-4.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Mr. Asiedu-Dartey addressing the gathering<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>He encouraged members of the traders\u2019 association to attend meetings of the Greater Accra Regional Shipper Committee and also appealed to them to extend an invitation to the GSA to their meetings to create room for deliberation and dialogue on trade issues.<\/p>\n<p>The General Secretary of TOMSMA, Mr. Frederick Amonoo said the formation of the association and its affiliation to the Ghana Union of Traders\u2019 Associations (GUTA) became imperative because they needed a voice and a unified front to address the myriad of challenges affecting their businesses.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4469\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Makola-5.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>He mentioned the high rate of import duties and other charges at the ports, high interest rates and high rent charges as some of the challenges affecting the over 300 traders at the Makola Shopping Mall.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, the President of GUTA, Dr. Joseph Obeng commended members of the association for their resolve and coming together to fight for their interests.
