{"id":34563,"date":"2023-02-16T19:29:37","date_gmt":"2023-02-16T19:29:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/?p=34563"},"modified":"2023-02-16T19:29:37","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T19:29:37","slug":"importers-to-be-sensitized-on-new-import-duty-exemption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vigorous-feistel.187-124-37-238.plesk.page\/?p=34563","title":{"rendered":"Importers to be Sensitized on New Import Duty Exemption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Importers, Freight Forwarders and Clearing Agents are to be sensitized by the Customs Division of the GRA on the new Import Duty Exemption regime to ensure compliance and improve the knowledge of shippers on the changing trends in clearing goods at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).<\/p>\n<p>This follows several complaints from importers and their Clearing Agents to the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) over denial of exemption even when the right procedures are followed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-34564\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Picture3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/><em><strong>Sector Commander of the Customs Division of the GRA at the KIA, Mr. Alfred Lirase Apio in an interaction with the team from the GSA<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>To address the complaint, the GSA paid a working visit to the Sector Commander of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) at the KIA, Mr. Alfred Lirase Apio.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Apio explained that most of the importers are not aware of the new Tax Exemption Bill which was passed by Parliament in July 2022. According to him, the new tax law has abolished a number of exemptions under the previous regime which the importers may not be aware of.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-34566\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Picture5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a new Tax Exemption Act which took a lot of the exemptions away.
