{"id":3144,"date":"2019-02-25T11:23:31","date_gmt":"2019-02-25T11:23:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/?p=3144"},"modified":"2019-02-25T11:23:31","modified_gmt":"2019-02-25T11:23:31","slug":"search-boankra-inland-port-investor-near-completion-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vigorous-feistel.187-124-37-238.plesk.page\/?p=3144","title":{"rendered":"Search for Boankra Inland Port investor near completion-Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The Minister for&nbsp;Transport, Mr Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, has announced that government\u2019s search for a strategic investor for the development of the Boankra Inland Port is nearing completion.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3145 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/MOT.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">He said when the inland port is finally completed, it \u201cwould assist&nbsp;in decongesting the Tema Port&nbsp;and facilitate transit trade especially to landlocked countries&nbsp;of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Mr Asiamah said this&nbsp;when the Ministry of Transport took its turn to address the \u201cMeet-the-Press\u201d series instituted by government to provide the public with information about activities of the various ministries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">In another development, Mr Asiamah&nbsp;said the country\u2019s ports are also receiving major infrastructure&nbsp;uplifts to position them as the go-to destinations in the sub-region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u201cThere has been a lot of investment in the country\u2019s two main seaports of Tema and Takoradi to modernise and position them as the leading container hubs and the beacon of trade and industry in the West African sub-region.\u201d, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">He explained that the construction of four dedicated container terminals at the Tema port would help respond to the increasing trade volumes and also address infrastructure deficits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Mr Asiamah added that the Ghana Maritime Authority took delivery of five high speed patrol boats and two rescue boats <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">to enhance safety and security in Ghana\u2019s marine environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u201cThese patrol vessels would help clamp down on the increasing spate of illicit maritime activities in our territorial waters and the oil fields.\u201d, he said<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The transport minister also highlighted interventions the government is taking at the Tema Shipyard and Drydock, Volta Lake Transport, Regional Maritime University, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, National Road Safety Commission, Metro Mass Transit and Intercity STC Coaches Limited in fulfilment of the president\u2019s \u201cGhana beyond aid\u201d agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister for&nbsp;Transport, Mr Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, has announced that government\u2019s search for a strategic investor for the development of the Boankra Inland Port is nearing completion.&nbsp;
