{"id":2900,"date":"2018-09-14T14:45:43","date_gmt":"2018-09-14T13:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/?p=2900"},"modified":"2018-09-14T14:45:43","modified_gmt":"2018-09-14T13:45:43","slug":"transit-shipper-committee-deliberates-trade-facilitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vigorous-feistel.187-124-37-238.plesk.page\/?p=2900","title":{"rendered":"Transit Shipper Committee\u00a0\u00a0 deliberates on trade facilitation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Greater Accra Transit Shipper Committee has held its third quarter meeting on 13<sup>th&nbsp;<\/sup>September, 2018 with a focus on trade facilitation concerns along Ghana\u2019s transit corridor with its neighbouring landlocked countries of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2907 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/transit2-1-1024x768.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Mr Fred Asiedu-Dartey(standing) making a presentation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Committee members discussed issues on diversion of transit goods to evade taxation and how all actors along the clearance and transport chain must collaborate to address them.<\/p>\n<p>They also deliberated on the unavailability of the CFA in Ghanaian banks for transactions with shippers from Francophone countries and VAT on goods in transit as some of the pressing concerns that needed immediate attention.<\/p>\n<p>A sub-committee made up of representatives from the GRA-Customs Division, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Ghana Shippers\u2019 Authority (GSA), GCNet, State Insurance Company, National Security and Freight forwarders was set up to review Standard Operating Procedures under the transit trade regime to ensure uniformity in the operations of all stakeholders for trade facilitation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2894\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/transit-1024x768.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the meeting and Head of Freight and Logistics Department of the GSA, Mr Fred Asiedu-Dartey, made a presentation on the Ghana-Burkina Faso Railway Interconnectivity project and its likely impact on trade within the transit corridor.
