<\/p>\nThe Ghana Shippers\u2019 Authority (GSA) has visited Cross Border Traders and twelve (12) Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Shipping and Logistics Industry located in the Oti region as part of its regular shipper outreach exercise. The three (3) days visit follows several complaints from the traders over the challenges they face at the borders which include delays by government agencies in processing
\ndocuments, Letter of Commitment (LOC), multiple checkpoints and extortions, armed robbery among others.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The team from the GSA, led by the Tema Branch Manager Mr. Charles Sey assured the traders that the GSA will engage the appropriate state agencies on the matters raised for resolution. He also used the opportunity to sensitize the traders and other stakeholders on the mandate of the GSA and encouraged the shippers to report their challenges to its Shipper Complaints and Supports Units at the country\u2019s entry points for redress.<\/p>\n
The Cross Border Traders were grateful to the GSA for reaching out to help solve their challenges. The visit which came off between 17th to 20th October 2022, afforded the GSA the opportunity to interact with the shippers and take stock of challenges affecting their
\noperations. It forms part of the GSA\u2019s mandate helps in formulating programs and policies to promote trade facilitation.<\/p>\n

The groups visited include the Dambai Cross-border Traders, Ghana National Tailors and Dress makers Association, Ghana Cooperative Fashion Designers, Prince Mark Frozen Foods, CH Global Processing (Yam and Cassava Processing) and Elsjyne Enterprise (Rice Processing) amongst others.
\nWhilst in the region, the GSA held discussions with the Oti Regional CoordinatingDirector, Mr. Henry Yao Amesimeku, on areas of\u00a0 collaboration to improve the activitiesof Cross Border trade.<\/p>\n
