The Ghana Shippers\u2019 Authority (GSA), Ghana Ports and Habours Authority (GPHA), Meridian Port Services (MPS) and other industry stakeholders joined Hapag<\/em>–Lloyd<\/em> to celebrate its 175 years of existence as a global shipping line and 16 years of operating in Ghana. <\/em><\/p>\n

The company is commemorating 175 years of transformation with a range of activities throughout the year, including a scholarly conference, a party for employees and stakeholders, and a congress.<\/p>\n

At a customer and vendor appreciation event held at the Accra Marriott Hotel last Friday,14th<\/sup> October, 2022 the Country Manager for Ghana, Mr Florian Nittscher said that Ghana is a key market for Hapag-Lloyd.<\/p>\n

According to Mr Nittscher, \u201cHapag Lloyd connects Ghana to the world via three direct services, the WAX which connects Ghana directly to Europe, the MWX, connecting directly to the Mediterranean, and the MIAX connecting the Middle East and India with West Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event was also attended by local and international dignitaries including the German Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Daniel Krull and a Delegation of German Industry & Commerce led by Mr Burkhardt Hellemann.<\/p>\n

Hapag-Lloyd Area Managing Director for West and Central Africa, Mr. Vishal Bundhun, said that Hapag-Lloyd has been \u201cenabling trade around the globe since 1847, with a strong tradition of transporting goods and connecting countries, markets, and people for the last 175 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

He expressed gratitude to Hapag-Lloyd customers and added that the company is, \u201cconstantly looking at opportunities to further improve our service and coverage to and from Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Head of Freight and Logistics at the GSA, Fred Asiedu Dartey wished the company well and encouraged them to improve their digital service platforms to help in enhancing their services to shippers.<\/p>\n

He further commended them for banning the use of single-use plastics in Hapag-Lloyd offices in Ghana and across West Africa as a means to promote environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n
