In September 2017, the African Union Assembly decided to impose a 0.2% levy on “eligible imports” of goods originating from a Non- Member territory into a Member State territory to be consumed in the member states.<\/p>\n

The Parliament of Ghana has since passed the AFRICAN LEVY ACT, ACT 952 (2017) to implement that decision of The African Union. This means that imports which qualify under the Act shall attract a levy of 0.2% on the Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF) of the Goods.<\/p>\n

Under the Act (Act 952), the Ghana Revenue Authority has been given the responsibility to collect the levy. The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority has therefore put in the necessary measures to implement this mandate.<\/p>\n

The General Public, especially the trading Public, Customs Officers, Declarants and all stakeholders are accordingly hereby informed that effective Friday, 12th January 2018<\/u>, all Imports as shall be directed with the Act (952) shall attract a levy of 0.2% of CIF to be paid before goods are released to the affected importers. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Commissioner-General wishes to express his own gratitude and that of the Ghana Revenue Authority to Clients of the Ghana Revenue Authority for your kind cooperation over the years and hopes same would be accorded in this national exercise.<\/p>\n
