{"id":14616,"date":"2022-07-15T16:16:43","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T15:16:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/?p=14616"},"modified":"2022-07-15T16:16:43","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T15:16:43","slug":"shippers-authority-bog-embarks-on-loc-sensitization-to-avert-export-proceeds-infractions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vigorous-feistel.187-124-37-238.plesk.page\/?p=14616","title":{"rendered":"Shippers Authority, BoG embark on LOC sensitization to avert export proceeds infractions\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14626\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-07-14-at-5.10.07-PM-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/>The Ghana Shippers\u2019 Authority (GSA) and the Bank of Ghana (BoG) have developed a nationwide sensitization manual to drum home the importance of export proceeds to Ghana\u2019s economy and streamline the exports sector to improve trade between Ghana and other countries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The move has come up due to the increasing infractions on Letters of Commitment (LOC) being recorded by the BoG.\u00a0The collaboration between the GSA and BOG for the nationwide sensitisation is also to caution exporters on the dire repercussions associated with defaulting on the LOC on their operations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The LOC is<span class=\"s1\">\u202f<\/span>a web-based export document that is generated by exporters from the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) portal to accompany all exports from Ghana. The Central Bank since July 2016 incorporated the LOC into the electronic export monitoring platform to track export proceeds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14628\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-07-14-at-5.10.07-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/>The nationwide sensitisation which is expected to commence in August 2022\u00a0will afford the GSA and BoG the opportunity to sensitize exporters on the dos and don\u2019ts of LOC and brief them on how important repatriation of funds contributes to strengthening the Cedi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The ICUMS allows sixty (60) days within which exporters are expected to repatriate export proceeds through the banking system to Ghana.
