{"id":11753,"date":"2022-06-14T18:13:05","date_gmt":"2022-06-14T17:13:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/?p=11753"},"modified":"2022-06-14T18:13:05","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T17:13:05","slug":"coffa-guta-engaged-on-measures-to-reduce-shipping-cost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vigorous-feistel.187-124-37-238.plesk.page\/?p=11753","title":{"rendered":"COFFA, GUTA engaged on measures to reduce shipping cost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of efforts to make shipping a cost-effective venture for importers and exporters, the Ghana Shippers\u2019 Authority (GSA) has held engagements with the Ghana Union of Traders Associations (GUTA) and the Committee of Freight Forwarders&#8217; Association (COFFA) on ways to reduce the cost of shipping.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The meeting which was held at the Shippers\u2019 House in Accra on 14<sup>th<\/sup> June 2022 was facilitated by the GSA in line with its mandate to protect and promote the interest of shippers in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11759\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/coffa-3.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/>The GSA has prioritized the education and sensitization of shippers on the avoidance of demurrage as part of its activities for the year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The executives of GUTA and COFFA present at the meeting noted the consistent increase in freight with the advent of COVID-19 as well as demurrage \u2013 cost incurred for overstayed cargo \u2013 as their major operational cost element and hoped that measures are put in place to address them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11757\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/coffa-1.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/>The Chief Executive Officer of the GSA Ms. Benonita Bismarck assured leadership of the GUTA and COFFA that the Authority will continue to work to improve trade at the ports by reducing the bottlenecks involved in shipping.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She reiterated the GSA\u2019s commitment to deepening its relationship with the freight forwarders, as key stakeholders in the industry and added that it will continue to collaborate on diverse issues for the advancement of the shipping and logistics industry, particularly in the interest of shippers in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11758\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/coffa-2.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of efforts to make shipping a cost-effective venture for importers and exporters, the Ghana Shippers\u2019 Authority (GSA) has held engagements with the Ghana Union of Traders Associations (GUTA)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":11758,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[24],"tags":[346,465,544,922,1622],"class_list":["post-11753","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-cargo","tag-committee-of-freight-forwarders-association-coffa","tag-demurrage","tag-ghana-union-of-traders-associations-guta","tag-ms-benonita-bismarck"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.9 -
